Counting Crows

I have to say that I really, really like the new Counting Crows album, Hard Candy. It is most excellent!

There are two songs that I literally can’t get enough of: Hard Candy and Up All Night. The band has become more of a guitar band over the years and I really love the way they have evolved. This new album has got me listening to their older stuff, too. I’ve always liked them, but this new album has kicked them to a higher level for me.

One Response to “Counting Crows”

  1. I quite agree, tis a most fine album. I’d nominate ‘Black And Blue’ as the best track for me. The bonus tracks on the UK version are especially great - ‘4 White Stallions’ and a fine cover of ‘You Ain’t Going Nowhere’ which is followed by a hidden version of ‘Big Yellow Taxi’. Are any of these on the US version?

I wasn’t a big fan of theirs until I heard and liked ‘American Girls’. I bought the single and was delighted to find one of the b-sides was a cover of Teenage Fanclub’s ‘Start Again’, Teenage Fanclub being one of the finest Scottish bands around.

So I bought the album a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it - I’ve had it, Springsteen and the Flaming Lips on rotation these last couple of weeks tiding me over till next week which sees the release of Coldplay’s brilliant second album.
