I remember sleep….
Jenni and I were just reminiscing about the old days. The days when we slept and slept good. I remember them fondly and miss them terribly. I’ve been crankier at work and at home. I’ve been forgetful and just plain spacey at times.
I also had the first auto accident in my life where I wasn’t stoned or drunk. The last accident I had was the last time I drank. April 15, 1990. Easter Sunday. Ran through a red light and nailed a Suburban…..at least I think it was a Suburban. It was big and I went boom when I hit it. Then I got my final DUI and spent a couple days in jail. Fun stuff.
A couple Saturdays ago, I ran a four way stop sign and hit another car, which hit another car. Fortunately, I missed hitting two more cars, so I only damaged three cars in my little fit of idiocy. Not only was I speeding, I wasn’t paying attention and wasn’t wearing my seat belt. I, and everyone else at the intersection, were extremely lucky. The whole deal upset me very much. I couldn’t believe how stupid the whole thing was. I was relieved that Jakob and Jenni weren’t with me, but worried that I might do the same thing again with them in the car. It also reminded me too much about my last DUI. I guess I have to pay attention to what I’m doing even though I’m sober.
Going to a meeting wouldn’t hurt either, I suppose.
strange. i was just here earlier today and wondered how you are doing.
glad the accident wasn’t tragic. meetings are always good for me. i go now, not only to stay clean, but to stay focused on what matters. when i start having that committee meeting going on in my head…i can’t focus on anything…
hope all is well. i think of you guys everytime i listen to Cowboy Junkies and Counting Cows.
peace
