Concert Fever
Okay….I’m really getting concert fever right about now. On one hand, we don’t have any money and are in dire financial straits. On the other hand, my two favorite artists are touring right now. They’ve both kicked off North American tours this week and the closest they are both coming is Denver, which is about 7-8 hours away, and even longer due to the fact that we are parents now.
Sarah McLachlan kicked off her tour in Seattle, Monday night. Great reviews have been sighted and my fellow Fumblers on the Sarah-list, FTE, are raving.
On the other coast, the Cowboy Junkies are starting their tour, in support of their absolutely incredible new CD, One Soul Now. The Llamas, as the faithful are known, have reported that the Junkies are in fine form and should be seen if only to hear their new cover of Robert Johnson’s old blues song 32-20 Blues. As one of the faithful says, “It’s like slicing around and between bolders through drop after drop on the Wautauga, or sweating your way up a trail and seeing the valley below all at once, or standing atop a seven-hundred-year-old castle looking over at a nine-hundred-year-old castle, or letting the rain really pelt you while you grin at the lightning show, or backing away from a Van Gogh until it suddenly nails you, or falling, falling, falling, then suddenly waking up, heart a’pounding, it’s unreal but it’s just six people making sounds.” That would be ChuckS, Llama-extraordinaire.
I’m sure that I really need to go to both of these shows.
