Pathetic
Our government, and by government I mean the Bush administration, is so pathetic it makes me sick. We have one of the most devastating natural disasters of our time and how does our government respond? $35 million. Now, initially, that sounds like a lot of money, but it’s really not. It is pathetic.
We spend $8 million an hour in Iraq, “liberating” a country we have occupied. So, we’re going to give the those poor souls in Indonesia and Sri Lanka what we spend on the biggest fuck-up of our time in less than five hours. Did I say pathetic? Spain, whose GNP is probably smaller than California’s, is sending $68 million.
Of course, there are only brown people living there….if they were white Christians we’d probably send more.
On a side note, there are conservative Christian bloggers out there who are saying that those poor people deserved it because they are Muslim. Now did the Buddhists deserve it, too? I just want to be clear on who our loving God is punishing.
I say load up every friggin’ airship in and around the Iraq “CONFLICT” and fly our service personnel to the water-devastated gulf shores. Send our billions of dollars of hate aid to find and bury the victims before their remains poison the devastated survivors … and do something GOOD wth our goddmaned money.
And for good measure, let’s send Bush and his daughters to the first aid tents to demonstrate true human compassion.,.since none of the above is actively placing their asses on any front lines to save the world from Terrorism, what an opportunity shot.

One of the things that struck me as I was watching the news was that many of these people for whom we are raising money were impovershed (or at the very least living with a LOT less than your average American) BEFORE this disaster, and we didn’t feel the need to help them then. Or the millions starving and dying of AIDS in Africa…or the many in THIS country living in poverty, disenfranchised, without health care…
(hmmm, I feel a post of my own coming on…)
