Since Christmas, I have really been doing well as far as creating a daily routine that is condusive to my health. Lord knows, everyone I know is tired of me bitching about myself being lazy.

Some really great things have been happening lately. I’ve been taking advantage of having a lot of time on my hands. And I’m not just talking about cleaning, cooking, laundry and kids. Although, I have been doing a good job with those things, too.

But lately I’ve really been on the beam again. I’ve been meditating, doing yoga, reading good stuff and actively doing what I need to do again. There is one reason why I have been practicing again, and that is because I have taken another turn on my Path. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and studying in the pagan/wiccan/magickal realms. A few years ago, I started reading about Wicca and paganism and it really resonated with me, but not in a primary way. At that time, it was something to add to my practice, which at that time was mainly 12 Step and Buddhism (mostly Zen.)

Anyway, I started reading about The Order Of The Golden Dawn and some of my old Wicca books. The Golden Dawn is a system of magic based on Hermeticism or what you could call the Western Mystery Tradition, which I had never heard of until last year. It used to be a secret society until somewhat recently when books started being published about it. I stumbled on to a couple of sites (Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn and The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn) and ended up getting a couple books a few months ago. Some of the info just percolated for a while I guess, until after Christmas, when I picked them up again and haven’t been the same since. It’s really triggered something in me, and although I might not end up being a magician, I know there is a lot that this tradition has to offer me.

As I said, I’ve also been going back into Wicca and paganism and, for the first time, have been interested a bit in various occult websites. Some are quite good, meaning they’re not overpopulated with Marilyn Manson-listening-goth-15yr.old types, but with mature, intelligent seekers who follow a different path. Remember that “occult” just means hidden. It is not evil, just hidden. It’s been very interesting, to say the least.

One thing that has helped me immensely is the Lesser Banishing Ritual Of The Pentagram, which sounds very dark and mysterious. It’s actually a Golden Dawn ritual that clears and grounds. They say if you do it twice a day for a month you’ll never stop. Performing this ritual has energized me and now I’m looking at adding some more rituals to my beginner’s repertoire…just simple ones. Candle burning and stuff. Very exciting.

Anyway, I know this post is almost incoherent, but I’ll post more as I’m clearer on this stuff. I’m just really excited right now and feeling very good.
